2007 T20 World Cup Star Joginder Sharma announces retirement from all forms of Cricket

Joginder Sharma, the 2007 T20 World Cup champion for India, announced his retirement from all facets of domestic and international cricket on Friday. The cricketer-turned-policeman thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Haryana Cricket Association, Chennai Super Kings, and the Haryana Government in a letter written to the BCCI secretary for the opportunity given to him.

“Today, I formally announce my retirement from all forms of domestic and international cricket with great gratitude and humility. Because it was an honour to represent India at the highest level of sport, my journey from 2002 to 2017 has been the happiest time of my life. Thanks to the Chennai Super Kings, the Haryana Cricket Association, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and other organisations, for giving me many opportunities, Joginder said.

He said in a message to his supporters, coaches, and former teammates: “To all of my teammates, coaches, mentors, and support staff: It has been an absolute honour to play with you all, and I sincerely appreciate your assistance in making my dream come true. I will always treasure the times I spent with all of the cricket fans who have supported me through the highs and lows of international sport, and your encouragement has served as a constant source of inspiration for me.”

The former all-rounder also sent a moving message to his loved ones and friends who stood by him through good times and bad.
