By introducing the first Women’s IPL season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has taken a historic step in revolutionizing women’s cricket in the nation.
Five franchises have already purchased teams for a staggering INR 4669 crores in the marquee event.
For the following five years, from 2023 to 2027, Viacom 18 secured media rights worth 951 crores in order to improve the broadcasting quality for women’s cricket.
Regarding the most recent development, The women’s IPL auction, which was most likely to take place on February 6th, 2023 in Mumbai, will no longer take place on that specific date and instead be postponed because the majority of franchises’ support personnel is already engaged in the South Africa T20 League and International League T20.
These two leagues are currently on their last stretch and will conclude on February 11th and 12th, 2023.

Post that coaching staff will join their respective franchise in India.
Five teams will compete for the title over the course of 22 days in the full-fledged Women’s IPL, which is planned to begin in March 2023.
The other reason for the auction’s postponement is that different franchises won’t have as much time to put together their coaching staff and choose the best team for the big game.
Various media agencies have reported that Navi Mumbai and Mumbai will likely be the locations of the BCCI main event.
