Rashid Khan along with the Adelaide Striker team fell to a prank in the Big Bash League 2019-20 game today against Melbourne Renegades, after umpire Greg Davidson first agreed to a dismissal and then rejected it.
In the 16th over of the game against Melbourne Renegades, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan had an LBW shout against Beau Webster off the fourth ball. For a moment it appeared that the umpire Davidson was raising his finger in agreement, after which the Adelaide team started celebrating. However, the umpire soon thought that it was not out, and pulled his finger to scratch his nose, shouting a loud “No”.

Though Rashid Khan did not get a wicket in that over, he conceded just 6 runs, which was a great one in the context of the game. The required run rate was close to 12 at that point, and Rashid’s over helped pile on the pressure further. He scalped 2 wickets in the game, and ended with figures of 2 for 15 to grab the Man of the Match award.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, Rashid spoke about the incident and admitted that he had started celebrating and was shocked when it was given not out, but he finally saw the funny side to it.
“I started celebrating,” he said. “I was shocked and when I watched the replay, it was very funny.”
