Watch: Cristiano Ronaldo honored by the Guinness Book of world record!

“I don’t follow records but the records follow me”, this quote by Cristiano Ronaldo continues to live and now he will find himself in the Guinness book of world record as well. Last night during the UEFA Euros qualifiers between Iceland and Portugal, CR7 played his 200th International match and also scored on his record breaking appearance.

The 37-year-old is the only footballer in the world to have appeared 200 times for his country. Even the likes of Maradona, Pele, Puskas among others could never achieve it. This certainly speaks volume about the longevity of Cristiano Ronaldo and the way he has maintained himself in terms of fitness.

Although he doesn’t play European club football anymore but he still keeps on attracting eyeballs towards him. Its been 20 years since he has been representing Portugal at the highest level and it will be fair to say that he has been the poster boy of Portuguese football since 2008.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been the main character of football alongside Lionel Messi for the major parts of the last 2 decades. Though Messi has more Ballon D’ors and now also has a World cup to show, Ronaldo’s record are unique on their own.
