The late game this Saturday comes from Valencia where Los Che are hoping to pile more misery on struggling Celta Vigo. The Galicians find themselves in the relegation zone and for the second season running it looks like their battle for safety may go to the wire.

They can at least take comfort in the fact that Valencia are struggling for any kind of real consistency. Over the past fortnight they’ve been hammered 4-1 at Mallorca, comfortably beaten Barcelona and been taken to penalties by third tier opponents in the Copa del Rey. That will be frustrating for Albert Celades but overall it has been a good few months for Valencia who are now just two points outside the top four and well placed to clinch Champions League football again.

Celta de Vigo did win on their last visit to this part of the world as they saw off Villarreal 3-1 in November. That was easily their best result of the season however unfortunately they haven’t been able to build on that with the Galicians winless in 7 league games since then. The pressure will really start to build on boss Oscar Garcia if they don’t pick up anything here with a second managerial switch of the season in Vigo not out of the question.

Valencia have a Copa del Rey Quarter-Final to look forward to next week but major changes aren’t expected from the win over Barcelona although talisman Dani Parejo is available again following a ban. Celta Vigo’s chances are severely helped by the availability of Iago Aspas after he had a yellow card rescinded. That may see Santi Mina left on the bench against his former club.

Valencia have been performing pretty well at home and only Barcelona and Real Madrid have picked up more home points than them this term in La Liga. Celta are better than their league position suggests, at least in terms of the quality in their squad, but they continue to flatter to deceive and this could be another setback for the Galicians.
