Stuart Broad

England pacer Stuart Broad was fined 15% of his match fees by his father Chris Broad who happened to have officiated the first Test match against Pakistan. Broad was found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct for using inappropriate words during the first Test at Old Trafford.

As per Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, “Any language, action or gesture used by a Player and directed towards a batter upon his/her dismissal which has the potential to provoke an aggressive reaction from the dismissed batter, whether or not any reaction results, or which could be considered to disparage or demean the dismissed batter, regardless of whether the batter him/herself feels disparaged or demeaned”

Broad was found guilty of breaching Level 1 of the above-mentioned article of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players. The news of him being fined also took over the internet as Broad also became the first England player to be fined by his father. So many trolls started surfacing online, owing to the fine imposed on Broad in a comical way.

Even England’s Barmy Army also retweeted the ICC’s tweet with a caption: @StuartBroad8 fined and given a demerit point by his dad, match referee Chris Broad! Looks like we might need to change the words to his song slightly…”

Soon the 34-year-old pacer responded as he came up with a cheeky response, and trolled his father on imposing fine by posting: “He’s off the Christmas card & present list”

He took the internet by storm by giving a comical angle to the incident and also taking a dig at his own father and match referee Chris Broad. It surely made the day of the fans who were already left in splits in the early part of the day.

Broad will now play in the second Test against Pakistan at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton starting from August 13. England already leads the three-match Test series by 1-0.
