Struggling-Yuvraj-Singh-Walks-off

Yuvraj Walks off Despite Not out: One of India’s most formidable middle-order batsmen, Yuvraj Singh, played his first game since his retirement from International Cricket on Thursday. Playing his first match for Toronto Nationals in the opening game of Global T20 League, Yuvraj Singh scored 14 runs off 27 balls.

Yuvraj Singh didn’t have the best of starts as the left-hander struggled to find his touch against Vancouver Knights, but the left-hander left everyone puzzled when he walked off the field despite being not out.

In a bid to launch the ball out of the ground, Yuvraj Singh stepped up on a swinging delivery only to edge the ball to the keeper. The keeper missed the grab but the ball went on to the hit the stumps which saw Yuvraj leaving the ground even before the umpire made his decision. Umpire eventually raised his finger, however, replays confirmed that the left-hander’s foot was inside the crease and was not out.

Yuvraj Singh walked in at the crease in the tenth over with Toronto losing their top three batsmen in the form of McCullum, Thomas, and Calum MacLeod. The left-hander though couldn’t make any useful contribution as Heinrich Klaasen and Kieron Pollard guided Toronto Nationals to 159 in 20 overs in the end.

Universe Boss, Chris Gayle was also sent back early in his first game of the tournament. However, Chadwick Walton and Rassie van der Dussen assured Vancouver Knights of a comfortable victory as the duo chased down the total in just 17.2 overs. While Chadwick Walton amassed 59 runs off 35 deliveries, Rassie Van Der Dussen was the top-scorer in the game, notching 65 runs off 43 deliveries.

Global T20 League opening game between Toronto Nationals and Vancouver Knights was Yuvraj Singh’s first game since retirement. The southpaw announced his retirement from all formats amidst the World Cup 2019 to participate in the Global T20 leagues.

Yuvraj wrote a letter to the BCCI, seeking board’s permission to participate in Global T20 league.

“He wrote to the board. I don’t see an issue in him getting the nod to play in overseas leagues now that he has retired from international cricket and IPL,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by PTI.
