Rahul Dravid talks about the future of Indian leg-spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav!

Indian National cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid for the first time in a very long while opened up about the future of spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. Both of the spinners at one point of time were the primary spinners in the team at home as well as foreign conditions.

The duo also played in recent ICC events but their spot in the Indian as of now is off-cards. Kuldeep Yadav is still getting game time in ODIs while Chahal is below in the pecking order after Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. It will be very interesting too see if Chahal and Kuldeep both will be included in the upcoming ICC Cricket World cup 2023 scheduled to take place in India.

Dravid said that despite Chahal being a “very fine” bowler has been missing out of the team and said that it will be unfair to not back other spinners to a certain extent.

“We have Yuzi, who is unfortunately is a very fine bowler and is missing out. At the moment, we believe in giving people a consistent run before we make decisions and Kuldeep is the one that is getting the run over the last few games.”

Rahul Dravid during the pre-match press conference for the 3rd ODI discussed about the how pitches will behave in during the World cup and it will be difficult to assume what kind of tracks will be provided when the tournament begins.

“We are always presuming that the wickets will spin in India. We just actually presume. I don’t think the last 2 spun at all. We never know what we are going to get in the World Cup.” – said Rahul Dravid.

The 50-year-old stressed upon not anticipating but rather doing the simple things right by covering all the bases and also shed light on IPL’s impact on the pitches. “In the league phase, nine cities, it is in October, the wickets won’t be as tired as they probably are in the IPL and (that too) at the back-end of our summer. You just have to get all your bases covered.”
