West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman, Nicholas Pooran, has incurred a 15 percent fine of his match fee due to a breach of Level 1 of the Code of Conduct during the second T20I against India at Providence in Guyana. This development emerged even as Pooran’s exceptional performance propelled West Indies to a thrilling victory. The incident unfolded during the fourth over of India’s innings when the hosts reviewed an LBW decision. Pooran expressed dissent toward the umpires’ decision to utilize a player review for a dismissal they deemed evident.

Acknowledging the penalty, Pooran accepted the sanctions without necessitating a formal hearing. The charge was issued by on-field umpires Leslie Reifer and Nigel Duguid, alongside third umpire Gregory Brathwaite and fourth umpire Patrick Gustard. Match referee Richie Richardson recommended the sanction.
Despite this setback, it is worth noting that Pooran has incurred his first demerit point within a 24-month period, signaling his initial breach of disciplinary conduct.
