Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has acknowledged that Arsenal’s summer acquisitions have significantly elevated their performance, propelling them to a new level ahead of their forthcoming encounter in the Community Shield on Sunday.

The Gunners made substantial signings during the transfer window, securing the talents of Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, and Jurrien Timber, for a hefty total sum of £208 million. These additions came in the aftermath of City narrowly beating Arsenal in the Premier League title race last season.

Remarkably, City emerged victorious in all three previous clashes between the two teams, amassing a total score of 8-2. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has struggled to secure positive results against his former mentor, having only managed a solitary win out of their ten past matchups.

“Mikel has brought Arsenal back into the position they were. You cannot win more than we won – it’s impossible. But the challenge is how hungry we are and if we still have the desire to defend what we won.”

Manchester City will take on Arsenal this weekend at Wemblet Stadium and will look to grab the opportunity to maximize their chances of winning a 4th Trophy in 2023. After a Treble winning season, City’s confidence is sky high and they have their Premier League opener on 12 August 2023 away at Burnley.
