Kyrie Irvin calls for players to Skip NBA’s Orlando return

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving on Friday did a conference call that had of 80 NBA players including Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, Camelio Anthony, etc. Irving who is injured has called for the players to skip the returning season of the NBA.

As per the reports, Irving who has undergone shoulder surgery and expected to miss the rest of the season till February next year opposed the plan to resume the NBA 2019-20 season.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium “I don’t support going into Orlando,” Irving reportedly said. “I’m not with the systematic racism and the bulls–t. Something smells a little fishy.”

However other players spoke about their concerns on the call with the leagues returning to play plan as 22 teams will be participating in the resume season and the matches will start from July 30th.

On Friday’s call, some players do have a reservation to play and discuss possible sitting out due to COVID -19 concerns.

Irving has been very vocal about the efforts made by National Basketball Association to resume the Basketball matches during COVID-19 time to unify players as well as work on sponsorship and endorsement money.

The league is very clear on one aspect which is not forcing any player who doesn’t want to play due to any along with reasons. Only the players who would not play the match will lose their salaries there will be no more further consequences on them.

If a player has any sort of medical issue a personal doctor will be allotted to them so that doctor can take care of that player and even if they are clear to play they can back out for sure there will be no issue on their contract only they need to bear the financial loss.

The question arises with all the speculation that this resume Basketball season has generated will it be that much success when the season resumes as we don’t need to forget that it will be played behind the closed doors.
