India holds a strong chance of winning the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series: Kevin Pietersen

Border-Gavaskar series

When Indian skipper Virat Kohli left for India after playing first match of Border-Gavaskar series and visitors were trailing by  0-1 in four match series many cricket experts/pundits said that the series will go in favour of host and they will clinch this series by 4-0. But the story is completely  different from what was predicted as still the last game of the series will decide the eventual winner and that speaks a volume about the bench strength that current Indian team possess.

Border-Gavaskar series

India under the captaincy of stand in skipper Ajinkya Rahane has performed extremely well and credit should be given for this remarkable turnaround to all young players who step up and took the opportunity with both hands and gave their best for India.

Indian cricket team with their performance has won hearts of several cricketers and adding to that list is former England batsman Kevin Pietersen who added that India holds a strong chance of winning the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series.

“I saw plenty of people predicting 4-0 to Australia at the beginning of the series, particularly with Virat Kohli only playing in the first match, but India have put themselves in a position to secure a famous series win. The best way for India to shut Australia up is to beat them. We did that on a couple of occasions, and it’s quite extraordinary how quickly the media turn on their own players when they start to lose,” wrote Pietersen for Betway.

He further added that the pressure is on the host skipper Time Paine and his team after visitors pulled out a scintillating draw at SCG where India was never in contention on the last day. The wicket is a bouncy track, and it will suit Aussies’ pace attack, but India still has a great chance, feels Pietersen.  He also talked about Paine nasty comment on Ashwin in detail.

“If Tim Paine gets himself into another confrontation in the fourth Test, he will go again – regardless of what he says in between Test matches. It is in his and his team’s DNA, so you have to deal with it,” concluded Pietersen.

Australia is currently batting on end of the first day play of fourth Test match with a score of 274 runs at the loss of 5 wickets.
