Ind vs Aus Test Series : Australian legend criticize Current Aussie skipper Pat Cummins for this reason

Pat Cummins

Although the series against India was his “first true test as captain,” the legendary Allan Border believes Pat Cummins had a lot to worry about. As a result, Cummins underbowled himself in the second Test in Delhi. After losing the first two Tests in Nagpur and Delhi, Australia gave up the four-game series for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The only fast in the Australian playing XI in the six-wicket loss in Delhi was Cummins, who had never lost as captain before to travelling to India. In the first innings, he only bowled 13 overs, and in India’s second essay, he didn’t bowl at all.

“To me, a quick bowler, it’s always dangerous,” Border spoke to SEN Radio. In that test match, I believed Pat Cummins seriously under-bowled himself.

There were moments when he could have run in and bowled some short stuff for two or three overs when things were starting to go wrong, especially in the Indian first innings when we had them on the ropes and they had created a solid partnership. Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin put on a 114-run partnership after Australia had reduced India to 139 for 7 to bring India within one run of the host team’s first innings total.

Border stated, There may be other players on the field who could approach the captain and ask, “Hey, why don’t you have a bowl?”

“But I simply felt this is Pat’s first true test as a captain, the rest has been smooth sailing, you get to the sub-continent and all of a sudden you get tested out in all sorts of areas, I just thought that.

“He’s concerned about a variety of issues; I believe he forgot about himself bowling. That is what may occur in those circumstances when your captain is also your best fast bowler. Border, however, had sympathy for Cummins as well.
