Have Manchester City found the correct rhythm and momentum heading into the final stretch of the season?

English Premier League champions Manchester City looked at their very best and organized when they took on RB Leipzig for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 2nd leg at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola and co. are in the 7th heaven following their 7-0 win as they aim to break the curse which has been stopping them from winning the Elite European club competition.

On Tuesday, a lot of things were put on the back burner to make space for Erling Haaland’s records. Even when he is not in a clinical mood, like he was against RB Leipzig, the 6 foot 5 striker is impossible to ignore, so it is inevitable that the entire attention will be on him. In general, scoring five goals in 60 minutes produces that result.

However, Haaland’s performance was part of an outstanding team effort, with Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Jack Grealish, and Kevin De Bruyne all ensuring that the offence had far too much for their opponents, overrunning RB Leipzig to make the second leg so much simpler than the first. Naturally, Rodri was essential in forging the connections between defense and offence.

All in all, City’s team is flowing through and if they continue to play like this too often then it will become a problem for every other top club around Europe. The Premier League champions are in a terrific form and they are topping several stat charts.

In the PL, City have the most goals with 67 goals with Erling of Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne sharing 40 goals between them. In UCL, they have scored the 3rd most goals this season with 22 goals and have the best Possession and Passing accuracy with 63.6% and 91.5% respectively.

Their upcoming fixtures in the Premier League are going to be very decisive in order for them to clinch the title for the 3rd successive year and 5th PL under Pep Guardiola’s tenure.
