Looks like the Turkmenistan Football League is following the footsteps of the Tajikistan and Belarusian Premier League as it has planned to reboot its season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision comes after the Turkmenistan reporting no coronavirus cases, while the whole world is suffering from the pandemic. When the outbreak of the coronavirus had just started, the Central Asian state of Turkmenistan followed other countries by suspending its eight-team league in March with just three games into the season.

However, the league has now started with the spectators flocking back to the stadiums to watch the match on Sunday. Around 300 spectators attended a top-of-the-table clash between reigning champions Altyn Asyr and runner up Kopetdag.

By doing so, Turkmenistan has now joined two ex-Soviet States to resume the football season- Belarus and Tajikistan. While Belarus and Turkmenistan have allowed the fans to enter the stadium, Tajikistan has restricted the fans to watch the matches in the stadium.

Belarus has 4,779 confirmed coronavirus cases has been strongly criticised for allowing fans to attend games.

The National Football Federation also adduced on some recommendations released by the health ministry and the World Health Organisation for preventing the spread of the illness.

Earlier this month, Turkmenistan hosted a mass cycling rally to mark World Health Day on April 7 as state employees engaged in mass exercise sessions across the country.

The country also faced criticism and many experts believed that the government was hiding the truth, which could disrupt attempts to end the pandemic.
