Former Red interested in UEFA decision on Manchester City

steven gerrad-rangers-fcFormer Liverpool midfielder and currently, manager of Rangers, Steven Gerrard admits he is “really interested” to see that any action will be taken against the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City after they were found guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play(FFP) regulations. Steven Gerrard said that he is interested in seeing that are Cityzens going to be stripped of their Premier League champions crown in 2014.

Manchester City are hit with a ban of two years from Champions League by UEFA for breaching the FFP regulations. However, it is quite sure that Manchester City are going to appeal against this in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Eventually, Liverpool dropped the league championship by just two points which saw the Blue half of Manchester taking it away from the Merseyside. Talking to a standard sports outlet, Gerrard said:

“I read that myself this morning,”

“We will wait and see. From a UEFA point of view, it is obviously a real strong sentence or punishment. I’m sure they will appeal so we will wait and see what the outcome is on that.

“Then we will see whether the Premier League act from there. But if you look at the severity of the punishment from UEFA, something has gone badly wrong.

“So I’m really interested to see the outcome of that. Until I get the punishment from the Premier League, I won’t comment further. But I’m really, really interested in it…for obvious reasons.

Rangers manager also said that no matter what, Manchester  City were the champions of 2014. However, he said he has nothing to say with respect to the ban on the team which is found accused of signing Wilfried Bony which is a current issue for the Pep Guardiola managed side. He opined:

“It’s all ifs and buts. It is what it is. Manchester City were champions

“As I sit here right now, congratulations to them. They are champions. Until things develop, if they develop, it’s all ifs and buts.

“I’ve got nothing to say on the matter.

“All I say is I’m very interested because of the severity of what UEFA have put out there.”
