India has qualified for the world test championship as New Zealand secured a thrilling win over Sri Lanka. However, the preparations for WTC seem to have started from now as Rohit Sharma on Monday said that those IPL sides that fail to make it to the playoffs, may gather in London for integral two-week conditioning before the WTC to be held at Oval on the 7th of June.

IPL is back to its home after covid-19 outbreak and players who are a part of the WTC final will indulge in a lot of traveling as the final is scheduled to play a few days after IPL. For players to get rest and be present in conditioning in the UK, it is vital for them to keep world test championship preparations in mind along with playing in IPL.

Test Captain Rohit Sharma, while responding to one of the queries from PTI, after the win of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy said, “It’s quite critical for us. We are going to keep in constant touch with all the players who are going to play that final and monitor their workload and see what’s happening with them”.

Since the WTC final is an integral match for India, Rohit is worried about players’ fitness. He further added, As far as IPL is concerned, there will be 6 teams that are possibly to get out of IPL play-off contention and so whichever players become available, we will try and find time to get them to the UK early as possible and get some time and we will monitor as much as possible.”

Rohit would want to retain players in the same form for the WTC final. The top pace bowlers like Mohammed Shami (Gujrat Titans), Umesh Yadav (KKR), and Mohammed Siraj are likely to be the first-team regulars for their IPL teams and might play almost 80 percent of the total games.
