England, Germany and Spain qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2021

Three teams such as Germany and Spain have been qualified for the upcoming FIFA under 17 women’s World Cup 2021, UEFA confirmed on Thursday. 

The final round of the qualifiers was suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic. Three teams who scored maximum was chosen as the qualifier for the upcoming mega event in 2021.

UEFA said in a statement “After consultation with UEFA’s 55 member associations,the UEFA Executive Commitee  has today taken several decisions regarding Youth national team competitions considering the current COVID-19 situtaion across Europe“.

Indian Football Team also shared the news and wrote “@UEFA have confirmed that England, Germany and Spain will represent Europe in the upcoming FIFA U-17 women’s World Cup in 2021. #U17WWC #KickOffTheDream.”

These teams will join other teams like India, Korea DPR, Japan and New Zealand, who have already qualified for the mega event before.

The Under 17 women’s football world cup is held after every 2 years starting in 2008. Spain is the current champion who lifted the title in 2018. North Korea is the most successful team who have clinched this title twice.

On 4 April 2020, FIFA announced the decision of postponing the 2020 World Cup which was originally scheduled in five venues to be held from 2 to 21 November in India. Under 17 women’s football world cup paves the way for all the budding female footballers to showcase their skills at a grand stage.
