ENG Vs NZ 2nd Test : Former England legend thinks this Englishman is the next big thing!

England’s “Bazball” style of cricket has certainly taken over the world but we might not see them in action for the ICC World Test championship Final which is scheduled to take place later this summer at Oval. They are currently 5th in the WTC final and Ben Stokes as well as Brendon McCullum will have to wait until the next edition to reap the rewards of their hard work.

The Three Lions’ have been hands down the best team and they proved it during ICC white ball events. After the winning the ICC Cricket World cup for the first time that too at Lords’, England became 2-time ICC World T20 champions in last year at Australia.

On both occasions, Ben Stokes was the one who came out as the “Man” and delivered success for his national side. Sooner or later, we should or we must see him lifting the Red-ball championship this time as the Captain. Stokes and McCullum’s duo have shape-shifted world cricket and turned England’s fortunes around. In last one year, the Three lions have won 10 out of their 11 Test matches.

They are currently 1-0 up against New Zealand in a 2-match test series. Stokes and Co. are on their way to victory in the 2nd Test as well enroute Joe Root and Harry Brook’s Centuries. The latter is all over the news for his outstanding 184 off 169 deliveries.

This conversion clearly reflects – “Bazball” mentality. Harry Brook is considered very special not just by us but former England great Sir Alaistair Cook. By keeping Brooks’ figures in mind, Cook had this to say – “I wouldn’t know exactly what to do as a captain against a man in Brook’s form, because he’s got every option covered. They quite rightly tried to bowl top of off to him, he had some luck at the beginning, a couple of inside-edges past the stumps.”

And of his stats? The 24-year-old made his senior Test debut last year. He has appeared 5 times for England until now and has staggering 807 runs in 9 innings powered by 4 Centuries and 3 half-centuries. He had 623 runs before his 184 against New Zealand on Day 1. He went on to hit 24 Fours and 5 Sixers.

“But some of these shots you can only dream of and the confidence to play them and the skill to be able to consistently hit cleanly in the right areas – it’s been an absolute pleasure to sit here and watch a Harry Brook masterclass.” – said Sir Alaistar Cook via BT Sports.Â
