Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was recently ruled out of the series against West Indies due to a sports hernia, mentioned that he is unsure of when he will be fit to play international cricket again. Bhuvi had earlier missed a major part of the ICC World Cup due to a side strain, which forced him to miss the series’ against West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh.

He was deemed fit for the home games against Windies this month, but a sports hernia immediately after passing the fitness test has put question marks on the NCA in Bangalore where Bhuvi was recuperating.

He, however, refused to blame the NCA for his fate.

“NCA must have tried their best but I don’t know what went wrong and why they couldn’t diagnose. Still I am not the right person to comment on that as it might say something else and BCCI will come up with something else.”

“There is no surety of surgery, but generally, the standard procedure in case of sports hernia is surgery. But we still need to take an appointment and I am not sure where it’s going to be. But we are trying to get it as soon as possible. Till I consult a doctor, can’t say when will be the comeback as it will depend on the diagnosis and treatment plan,” he said when asked about the recovery process.

Bhuvi also mentioned that he wanted to be back at the earliest, but it is now up to the doctors and the specialists, and he will follow whatever they say. In his absence, Mohammad Shami played the ODIs against Windies.

Bhuvi will, however, be hoping that he can return to full fitness ahead of the IPL, so he can get much needed match practice ahead of the T20 World Cup that will be held in Australia in October. Skipper Virat Kohli had earlier stated that the fast bowlers from India who would play in the tournament were more or less finalized, and it was expected that Bhuvi was one of them.
