More Details on Vijay Hazare Trophy and RO-KO Form:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has found itself at the centre of an unexpected storm as fans across the country slammed the world’s richest cricket board for not telecasting all matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 live. What was supposed to be a celebration of India’s domestic one-day tournament has instead turned into a debate on accessibility, fan engagement, and the value of domestic cricket in an era dominated by broadcast revenues and star power.

The criticism intensified sharply after the inclusion of two of Indian cricket’s biggest superstars—Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma—in the marquee event. Kohli, representing Delhi, and Rohit, turning out for Mumbai, brought unprecedented attention to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, a tournament that traditionally caters to purists and keen followers of domestic cricket. Their presence alone elevated the competition’s stature, making the absence of full live coverage even more glaring in the eyes of fans.

According to reports, the BCCI has ensured that only a limited number of matches are being telecast from select venues. Star Sports, the official broadcaster for the league, is covering just two matches per round. On days when multiple games are scheduled simultaneously, only a few are broadcast live, while the rest remain inaccessible to viewers. This selective coverage has not gone down well with fans, especially when matches involving the biggest names in Indian cricket are not consistently available to watch.

Virat Kohli, who has been training in Bengaluru, is playing his first match for Delhi against Andhra Pradesh in the same city. Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, has been preparing in Jaipur and is playing his match there. Despite the anticipation surrounding their return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after nearly 15 years, fans were left frustrated due to the lack of live telecast for several games, including high-profile fixtures.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 is not just about Kohli and Rohit. The tournament features a host of star players such as Ishant Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur, Shubman Gill, and many more who are eager to make an impact. For several of these players, the competition serves as a vital platform to showcase form, stake claims for national selection, and remain in contention for future international assignments. The limited broadcast coverage, however, has restricted fans from following these narratives closely.

Social media quickly became the outlet for fan frustration. One sarcastic reaction read, “Dear Star Sports isn’t willing to telecast all matches in that place please provide us wifi we will broadcast all matches live on our mobile Phone.” The comment reflected not just anger, but also a sense of disbelief that in an era of advanced technology and massive broadcast deals, fans were unable to watch domestic matches featuring some of the biggest stars in world cricket.

Another fan wrote, “No telecast for Virat and Rohit matches in order to curb star culture makes no sense at all and telecasting those games where big wigs are not involved makes it another talking point in marquee event.” This reaction summed up the confusion surrounding broadcast decisions. While some might argue that limiting coverage of star players helps focus on the tournament as a whole, fans feel that it contradicts the very idea of a marquee event, especially when players like Kohli and Rohit are returning after such a long gap.

As per available information, all elite knockout matches will be broadcast live from Bengaluru, offering some relief to viewers. However, by the time the tournament reaches that stage, much of the initial buzz—and several memorable performances—may already have passed without a live audience.

Adding to the irony of the situation is what unfolded on the field. According to the latest reports, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scored centuries in the marquee event opener. On a day that should have been celebrated as a landmark moment in Indian domestic cricket, fans were forced to rely on score updates and highlights instead of witnessing history live.

Rohit Sharma produced a sensational knock of 155 runs off just 94 balls against Sikkim, underlining his dominance in the one-day format. Virat Kohli, equally impressive, scored 131 runs from 101 balls against Andhra Pradesh. These innings not only showcased their class and hunger for runs but also reignited excitement around the Vijay Hazare Trophy, proving just how significant their participation is for the tournament’s profile.

The news quickly began trending across social media platforms as fans shared reactions, scorecards, and clips from the stands. “Trending News in Indian Cricket,” many called it, as two of India’s greatest modern-day batters marked their return to domestic cricket with commanding centuries. Kohli representing Delhi and Rohit turning out for Mumbai added a nostalgic element to the occasion, reminding fans of an era when domestic cricket regularly featured international superstars.

Yet, the joy of such performances was overshadowed by disappointment. Many fans described the day as “lovely for cricket” but lamented the fact that they could not watch these iconic innings live. The selective broadcast policy turned what should have been a proud moment for Indian domestic cricket into another talking point about governance, fan priorities, and missed opportunities.

The significance of Kohli and Rohit playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after 15 years cannot be overstated. Their presence bridges the gap between domestic and international cricket, inspiring young players and drawing mainstream attention to the tournament. Performances like these centuries serve as a reminder of their enduring quality and competitive hunger, even after years at the top level.

These innings are also being viewed as positive signs for Indian cricket’s future. The centuries scored by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are being seen as examples of their eagerness to score runs and remain at the highest level. Such form, many believe, will certainly give India confidence heading into the 2027 World Cup, where experience and big-match temperament will be crucial.
