5 fascinating facts about the Indian bowler who took 3 wickets against Pakistan in the Emerging Asia Cup

Manav Suthar, a 20-year-old cricketer from Rajasthan, has been a standout player for India A in the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup. In his first List-A experience, Suthar has already taken six wickets in three games, including three wickets against Pakistan A on July 19th. Incredible Ranji Trophy season during which he dismissed Sanju Samson in both innings of a game

Manav Suthar, a left-arm spinner from Rajasthan, has had an impressive first-class cricket career. In the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy season, Suthar picked up 4/82 in his final league game, which helped him secure a spot for the following season. In the 2022-23 season, Suthar played in six of the seven games for his team, taking 39 wickets at an average of 20.32 with two five-wicket hauls. One of his best moments was when he dismissed Sanju Samson, the star batter and skipper of Kerala, in both innings of their second game of the season. Suthar was also a strong performer with the bat, scoring 224 runs at an average of 32, including two half-centuries.

Suthar scored an unbeaten 96 with the bat and took 11 wickets in a Ranji Trophy game.

During the third game of the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy against Puducherry, Suthar experienced his most memorable moment on the cricket field.After his impressive performance against Kerala, Suthar was full of confidence. In the first innings, Rajasthan struggled to score at 182/6, but Suthar played an exceptional innings of 96* from 89 deliveries, which helped the team reach a competitive total of 335. But Suthar wasn’t done yet. He took eight wickets for 33 runs in his 17 overs, followed by three more wickets in the second innings, leading Rajasthan to victory by an innings and 101 runs. Suthar won his first Player of the Match award in only his fifth first-class game with 11 wickets in the match and the sensational 96 runs.

Gujarat Titans net bowler in IPL 2022

Manav Suthar, despite having limited first-class experience, had the opportunity to be one of the net bowlers for the Gujarat Titans during their inaugural IPL season. This allowed him to rub shoulders with some of the big names in cricket, including Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya. Being part of the biggest T20 competition was a great experience for Suthar, which helped him during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) later in the year. On his T20 debut, Suthar bowled impressively, taking two wickets for only 15 runs in his three overs against Madhya Pradesh. Suthar’s last game in the tournament was against Uttarakhand, where he was economical in his three overs but went wicketless. Despite showing promise, Suthar went unsold in the IPL mini-auction in 2022.

In the 2023 Duleep Trophy, Suthar was part of the Central Zone squad.

Manav Suthar was selected for the Central Zone squad in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy, as he was the leading wicket-taker from the Central Zone in the Ranji Trophy. Suthar was excited to be part of one of India’s prestigious competitions. Even though he didn’t play in Central Zone’s two games, being in close quarters with other Indian stars should benefit the youngster.

In 2019, Suthar played alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the India-Afghanistan U-19 series and finished as the leading wicket-taker.

Manav Suthar was part of the Indian Under-19 team that played against Afghanistan Under-19 at home in November 2019. Despite missing two games, he finished as the leading wicket-taker in the series, with 10 wickets at an incredible average of nine. The series featured several prominent names like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, and Noor Ahmad. Suthar made an impact in the fourth ODI of the series with figures of 5/19 in 10 overs. Earlier in the year, Suthar played a lone Test for the Indian Under-19 team in the two-match series against South Africa Under-19. He picked up four wickets in the match, including three scalps in the second innings.
