Yorkshire County Cricket Club shares information about deleted evidences against Azeem Rafiq’s Racism case!

Racism is a very sensitive subject around the world and its involvement in sports is never tolerated. This subject is strongly condemned in all forms and at all levels. Racism has absolutely no place in the modern era, and those who engage in it are nothing less than criminals. There have been some regrettable racist incidents in stadiums and on fields, but the subject is still very touchy.

Racism is not tolerated in any of the top five European leagues, and those who commit it face immediate imprisonment in addition to other punishments. Fans may also be prohibited from accessing stadiums and watching football matches.

In a recent development, Yorkshire County Cricket Club have shared a very shocking news about an Racist incident with Pakistan-born cricketer Azeem Rafiq. The player featured for Yorkshire for almost 10 years and shared his story of Racism within the dressing room which left everyone shocked.

Azeem said that those incidents had taken a toll on his mental health and pushed him to a dark place which could have had him commit suicide. Rafiq later complained to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee (DCMS) which led to expulsion of Yorkshire committee.

But in another major development, the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) reported that Yorkshire has confirmed the news of deletion of major evidences and files against the Racist event. They have further disclosed that all the related emails and documents including hard and soft copies have been either deleted or completely destroyed.

“After 5 November 2021, it was discovered that emails and documents, both held electronically by the club and in paper copy, had been irretrievably deleted from both servers and laptops and otherwise destroyed.”
