During the ongoing Test between India and West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago, Kohli scored his 29th ton in the longest format, including 11 boundaries. However, his innings was cut short by a direct-hit run-out from Alzarri Joseph. Kohli tried to take a rapid single off Jomel Warrican’s delivery but hesitated for a moment, which ultimately became expensive. Kohli was disappointed in himself for gifting his wicket to the opposition.

Adelaide, 2020

Kohli was in good form before a run-out altered the game’s trajectory. The incident occurred during the first Test of the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Trophy match between India and Australia. India was in a strong position at 188-3 when Kohli, the captain, was run-out. . Rahane called for a single, but changed his mind, leaving Kohli stranded halfway down the pitch. Kohli was well-set on 74 and fuming as he left the ground. India collapsed to a score of 244, following which the Aussies made 191, giving India a lead of 53 runs. On the last delivery of a Ben Hilfenhaus over, Kohli tried to keep the strike by taking a single after tapping the ball to mid-wicket. However, Hilfenhaus ran, collected the ball and hit the stumps, resulting in Kohli being well short of his crease. India lost that game by a massive margin of 298 runs.
