On the light of Tottenham's 6-1 loss against Newcastle here are Top 5 most embarrassing defeats in the Premier League

Newcastle United earned one of their most famous victories last night at the St. James Park as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur by 6-1 to topple Manchester United in the points table. Eddie Howe’s side increased Spurs tensions as Newcastle ran through their defense by conceding just once in the entire 90 minutes.

The Black and white outfit made history when they scored 5 goals in the space of 21 minutes. It made them only the 1st team since Manchester City to score 5 times within 20 minutes and Newcastle United are looking most likely than ever to seal a spot in the UEFA Champions League group stages next season.

As we all know, this is not the first time that we have seen such a scoreline in the 2022/23 season. Liverpool had defeated Manchester United 7-0 while Manchester City also registered a score line of 6-3. In this feature, we will rank the Top 5 most embarrassing defeats in the Premier League.

1. Manchester United 8-2 Arsenal

Way back during the 2011 season, Manchester United registered a massive 8-2 win against North London outfit Arsenal at the Old Trafford. It was the Gunners’ heaviest and worst defeat since the 1896 season. Arsene Wenger’s side missed a couple of important players due to injury and Sir Alex Ferguson’s side took full advantage.

Danny Welbeck bagged the opening goal through a penalty while Wayne Rooney scored a Hat-trick. Ashley Young was able to get a brace while Nani and Park Ji-Sung scored 1 goal each to round off a splendid night.

2. Liverpool 7-0 Manchester United

Just when people thought Manchester United are back, Jurgen klopp’s Liverpool handed Erik Ten Hag’s side a 7-0 bashing at Anfield only a week after winning the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United. The Reds rampaged through goals from Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Gakpo, Nunez and Salah bagged braces while Firmino landed the final goal to win 7-0.

3. Southampton 0-9 Leicester City

Southampton supporters can be excused if they continue to get nightmares about Brendan Rodgers’ team’s 2019 visit. When the Foxes arrived at St. Mary’s Stadium, they simply devastated the Saints, dropping the hosts down the bottom three as a result.

Things got underway with a goal from Ben Chilwell, and after just 12 minutes, Ryan Bertrand was sent out for a careless charge on Ayoze Perez.

The floodgates then opened in a game that saw hat-tricks for Perez and Jamie Vardy, as well as goals for the visitors from Youri Tielemans and James Maddison.

4. Aston Villa 7-2 Liverpool

5. Manchester United 1-6 Manchester City
