REPORTS: NBA Players to receive full salary paychecks till April 15

As some parts of the United States begin to peel back some of the shelter-in-place orders amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The NBA has targeted no early then May 8 for teams to open their practice facilities. The league sent a memo team on Monday outlining plans for them to open their complexes in safe and controlled environments.

Only four players would be permitted at one single facility, no coaches will be allowed and those 4 players will also remain prohibited using non-team facilities.

These rule changes also only pertain to those franchises that reside in a city rescinding its stay-at-home orders.

For those teams in cities that still have social-distancing restrictions in place, the league said it will work with the club to develop an alternative.

It’s not sure things will come into perspective after May 8 if the situation becomes difficult the dates to start normal training will be pushed further.

Before the league contacted teams, Atlanta Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk said earlier on Monday he had no plans to open the team’s complex on Friday, the first day it was being reported that the NBA could open some facilities.

However the state of Georgia is loosening some of its restrictions, one of the officials added: “We have to wait for the state to open up first and then we will consider all the options and then we can go and ease down the restrictions on our facility depending on the situation”.
