IPL 2023 : How well did GT, RR and CSK use their Impact players? Let’s have a look!
The 16th edition of Indian Premier League has well and truly begun as every team has played at least one match in the league phase and certain teams have also played their 2nd match. Today, Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans will lock horns against each other at Arun Jaitley Stadium for match number 7 of 70 league fixtures.
Other than the cricket, New Rules have been introduced this season and one of them being the Impact player rule. In this feature, we will discuss about Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings’ tactics on utilizing the Impact player rule.
Chennai Super Kings –
After their batting innings, Deshpande was selected to substitute Ambati Rayudu. (they batted first in both games). Deshpande gave up 51 runs in 3.2 overs in the first game before getting caught up in a string of no-balls and wides and giving up 45 runs in 4 overs in the second. However, it is to be anticipated that Dhoni will give Deshpande more opportunities given that he was fairly competent when he did it right.
He also took two wickets in the previous encounter. The possibility of nervousness exists, and CSK won’t desert him just yet. So far, substituting a spinner for a batsman who is unable to bowl has been a simple process.
Gujarat Titans –
Reigning champions Gujarat Titans’ Captain Hardik Pandya has reportedly left the Impact Player decision all up to bowling coach Ashish Nehra. Pandya apparently doesn’t say much about its usage and in the first match Nehra seemed to have no option but force Sai Sudarshan into the batting order following Kane Williamson’s injury which has already ruled him out of the entire course of the tournament.
Rajasthan Royals –
Instead of any tactically necessary move, theirs was more about providing Navdeep Saini a game and some match time. Because of this, the contest circumstance. When Saini received a bowl, they had 203 on the score and had Hyderabad at 63 for 6.
He was erratically off his lines and lengths, sliding out a beamer. However, if there had been no IP regulation, he might not have received a game and would have entered the game in raw form in another game. However, the IP regulation gave Rajasthan the opportunity to give him some bowling practise in a genuine match setting.
