India thump Sri Lanka by 78 runs in third T20, seal series 2-0

Team India have continued their winning run against Sri Lanka as they have won the third and final match of the series by 78 runs and sealed the series 2-0.

Having posted a mammoth total of 201 runs on the board in the first innings, it was never going to be an easy chase for the visitors. In a bid to level the series, Sri Lanka needed a good start from their openers but once again they failed to deliver. The visitors lost 4 wickets inside first six overs, and with that perhaps ending their chances of winning the match.

Making his comeback into the T20 side Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva produced some fightback, stitching 68 runs between them before the former got out on 31 off  Washington Sundar in the 12 overs. Dhananjaya de Silva played a valiant knock of 57 runs off 36 balls, however, ending in a losing cause as Sri Lanka folded for just 123 in 15.5 overs, thanks to once again some sensational performance by fast bowlers.

RCB bowler Navdeep Saini is leaving everyone in awe who once again exhibited a brilliant spell of fast bowling in Pune. The RCB bower was the pick of the bowlers, picking three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur picked 1 and 2 wickets respectively.

EARLIER, INDIA POSTED  201/6 IN 20 OVERS

KL Rahul continued his brilliant form with the bat too, amassing 54 runs off just 36  balls as the duo gave India a solid start to the innings.

India lost wickets in the middle overs, however, a late finish from Manish Pandey and Shardul Thakur saw India cross 200-mark in the end.
