ICC World Cup Semi-Final 1: India vs New Zealand -Match Preview, Pitch Report, Predictions, and Tips on Betadda.

The Black Caps (New Zealand) will face the Men-in-Blues (India), for the first Semi-Final of the ICC World Cup 2023, on 15th November from 2: 00 PM onwards.

India has come out top in the round-robin standings. The Kiwis finally broke their four-match losing streak, displaying a dominating performance by easily chasing their 172-run target, with plenty of time to spare, to gain a huge boost in their net run rate. Both teams have been in great form during the tournament, the last time these two teams played in a semi-final was in the 2019 World Cup, where New Zealand won by a meagre 18 runs, thanks to Martin Guptill‘s superb fielding which proved to be the despair of a billion people, by dismissing MS Dhoni falling short in between the wickets. Matt Henry was the star for New Zealand, taking three wickets.

Pitch Report

The Wankhede stadium’s pitch provides aid for both pacers and spinners. The closeness to the Arabian Sea grants the swing bowlers a great advantage. Additionally, spinners become more effective when the surface turns into a treacherous turner in the second innings. Furthermore, while the new ball does something in shorter formats of the game, eventually the pitch becomes more conducive for batting.

Players Face-Off

Virat Kohli, India’s star batsman, will go head-to-head against New Zealand‘s impressive left-arm bowler, Trent Boult. Kohli has scored a monumental 13626 runs from 289 matches, whilst Boult has demonstrated his skill with an outstanding 210 wickets from 113 innings.
