In the 2023 ICC World Cup, Quinton De Kock, the dynamic South African opener, continued his remarkable form by smashing a splendid century against New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. This marked his fourth century of the ongoing tournament, reaffirming his prowess as a formidable batsman.

De Kock’s century, completed in 103 balls, solidified his place among cricket’s elite, joining Rohit Sharma and Kumar Sangakkara in an exclusive club of players who have scored four centuries in a single One Day International (ODI) World Cup campaign.

Rohit Sharma holds the record with five centuries in a single edition, achieved in the 2019 World Cup, while Kumar Sangakkara matched De Kock’s feat in the 2015 World Cup.

Additionally, De Kock became the first batsman to surpass 500 runs in the current ICC World Cup in India, reaching this milestone with a well-placed boundary off New Zealand’s Tim Southee. Furthermore, he claimed the record for hitting the most sixes as a wicketkeeper-batsman at the ODI World Cup, showcasing his aggressive style of play. De Kock also boasts the highest run tally (545) for a wicketkeeper in a single World Cup edition.

Quinton De Kock in the 2023 World Cup scored centuries against Sri Lanka (100), Australia (109), Bangladesh (174), and New Zealand. In the high-scoring contest against New Zealand, De Kock displayed his boundary-clearing prowess with three sixes and 10 boundaries, accumulating a remarkable 114 runs off 116 balls.

South Africa’s innings was further fueled by centuries from De Kock and Rassie van der Dussen, and David Miller’s pivotal contribution, propelling the team to a commanding total of 357-4 in their allotted 50 overs.
