Hamish Benett was born on 22nd February 1987 and is a New Zealand international cricketer. He is one of the few bowlers in New Zealand cricket who is considered a genuine out-and-out quick bowler. His fastest televised delivery was at 148km/hr. during 2015 Indian Cricket tour of New Zealand. In the third One Day international of India series, Virat Kohli was dismissed by him following 16 consecutive dot balls. He currently opens bowling with Ollie Newton for Wellington. He is also the current bowling coach of Wellington team.

Early Life
Benett started his career by representing Canterbury Cricket team. Earlier in his career, Benett represented New Zealand in 2006 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in Sri Lanka. He represented Black Cap in junior team while being a squad member in U-19 World Cup in 2005. He made a good start to his career with 20 wickets in his first 12 matches.
National Career
Hamish Bennett played domestic cricket for Canterbury at the beginning of his career. He got a call for New Zealand ODI team after his successful performance in domestic cricket in Canterbury. He was also a leading wicket-taker in 2018-19 Ford Trophy tournaments with 28 dismissals in 12 matches. In June 2018, he signed a contract with Wellington for 2018-19 seasons.
International Career
Benett made his first one-day international debut on 14th October 2010 against Bangladesh, where he was the best performing bowler of New Zealand, taking down 3 wickets. He made his test debut on 4th November 2010 against India. During this match he suffered an injury and was unable to play during the second innings. Later on Benett was included in the New Zealand squad for 2011 ICC world cup held in the Indian subcontinent.
During this match, he took 4 wickets against Kenya and received a man of the match award. Bennett was sidelined for two years due to a serious back injury but he made a comeback to national side on 25th January 2014 by playing in 3rd ODI against India at Auckland.
