Grant William Flower is a former Zimbabwean cricketer born on 20 December 1970 and a former ODI captain, who played Tests and ODIs. For his handy left-arm spin and fine batting, skills rated him most among the best Zimbabwean cricketers. He was very fitness conscious person who spends hours in the gym, and also he regarded as a brilliant fielder.

Grant Flower was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia and was educated at North Park School along with his brother Andy where they were the best players in their age groups. Although always an all-rounder, he bowled seamers in his early days and his bowling was rated more than his batting. It was in high school, at St. George’s College where he changed to spin blowing.

In Test cricket, his debut match was Vs India at Harare on 18 October 1992 and his last test match was Vs Bangladesh at Bulawayo on 26 February 2004. In ODI cricket, his debut match was Vs India at Harare on 25 October 1992. He played his last ODI match Vs South Africa at Potchefstroom on 17 October 2010.

In Test cricket, he scored 3457 runs in 67 matches with the average of 29.54 and strike rate was 34.52 and In ODI cricket, he scored 6571 runs in 221 matches with the average of 33.52 and strike rate was 67.58. His highest score in Test cricket is 201* and 142* in ODI cricket.

Along with a lot of other players, he announced his retirement in 2004 because to protest against the Zimbabwe Cricket Union. He played only 2 One Day International matches in this stint and retired for good soon after, shifting his focus to full-time coaching.  Since October 2010, Grant has served as Zimbabwe batting coach. He applied for the official head coach post but lost out to Andy Waller.
