G2 Esports Dominates Fnatic in LEC Season Finals to Claim Victory
G2 Esports just won their 12th LEC championship by beating their long-time rivals, Fnatic, in the LEC Season Finals. They won the series 3-1, and this victory means they are now the top team from EMEA going into Worlds for the fifth time.

G2’s victory today was quite one-sided, even though they lost one game in the middle of the series. They won their games very quickly, with an average game time of just 24 minutes. In the three games they won, they got a total of 77 kills, which is more than one kill per minute in each of those games.

In all three games today, BrokenBlade and Yike from G2 Esports dominated the map and played a crucial role in the team’s success. They were like a strong frontline for G2 throughout the series.
In games one, three, and four, when they used K’sante and Rell together, they caused a lot of trouble for Fnatic by engaging in teamfights and dealing consistent damage. Yike, in particular, had an impressive performance with a score of 6/8/59, which gave him a series-wide KDA of 8.1 and a kill participation of 73.8 percent.
With this championship win, G2 will be the top team from the LEC at Worlds 2023. They won’t need to go through the play-in stage; instead, they’ll go straight into the “Swiss Stage,” a new format for Worlds. Unlike before, being the top seed from your region doesn’t guarantee avoiding major region champions in the main event. In the Swiss Stage, teams with similar records will face off randomly in the first round.
MAD Lions (third place) and Fnatic (second place) also earned spots in the Worlds Swiss Stage. The only LEC team starting in the tournament’s initial phase is Team BDS (fourth place), who will compete against Golden Guardians in the Worlds Qualifying Series on October 9. The winner of that best-of-five match will secure the final spot in the Worlds play-in stage, which begins on October 10.
