Al Hilal’s triumph marks their second consecutive King’s Cup victory, solidifying their dominance in the domestic cup competition. This win also adds another trophy to their already impressive collection for the season, having previously secured the Saudi Super Cup and the Saudi Pro League titles.

The match kicked off with a bang. In the very first few minutes, both sides had golden opportunities to score. Sadio Mane of Al Nassr nearly broke the deadlock with a shot in the sixth minute, but it sailed over the goal. Just a minute later, Al Hilal responded with a powerful header from Aleksander Mitrovic, putting his team ahead.

Al Nassr took control of the game for most of the first half, constantly threatening Al Hilal’s goal. However, Al Hilal’s goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, stood strong, making several incredible saves to keep his team in the lead.

The second half mirrored the first, with Al Nassr dictating the pace. Cristiano Ronaldo, the star attraction for Al Nassr, came close to scoring a spectacular goal with a bicycle kick, but it rattled the right post and bounced away.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the 56th minute when Al Nassr goalkeeper David Ospina received a straight red card for handling the ball outside his penalty area. Despite playing with one fewer player, Al Nassr continued to push forward, testing Bounou’s reflexes on several occasions.

With just minutes remaining in regular time, the game took another turn when Al Hilal received two red cards in quick succession. First, Ali Albulayhi was sent off for a head-butt, followed by Kalidou Koulibaly receiving a second yellow card for a dangerous foul.

Suddenly, Al Hilal found themselves with only nine men on the field, desperately clinging to their lead. This disadvantage continued into extra time, where Al Nassr failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage.

The match ultimately went to penalties, a nail-biting test of nerves and skill. Both sides missed their opening penalties, but Ronaldo and Mitrovic successfully converted theirs to keep the pressure on.

The tension escalated even further as Al Nassr’s substitute goalkeeper, Waleed Abdullah, saved a penalty from Al Hilal, giving his team the upper hand. However, Bounou once again rose to the occasion, denying a crucial penalty from Al Nassr to keep his team’s hopes alive.

The final penalty was converted by Nasser Al Dawsari of Al Hilal. Then, in a moment of pure brilliance, Bounou saved the final penalty from Al Nassr’s young player, Meshari Al-Nemer, sending the Al Hilal bench and fans into a frenzy.

Bounou’s heroics throughout the match, particularly in the penalty shootout, were instrumental in securing Al Hilal’s victory. Their fighting spirit and resilience, even when down to nine men, proved to be the difference-maker in this dramatic final. While Al Nassr will be disappointed to have fallen short despite their strong performance, Al Hilal can celebrate a historic treble and their continued dominance in Saudi Arabian football.
