World Test Championship 2023-25 has started and this time India wants to make sure that in 2025 they win this championship. Till now two finals of the WTC have happened, and India qualified for both finals. However, both times India was defeated. To qualify for the finals, it is important to be in the top 2 of the Table. That cannot happen by doing well only for a period of 6 months. A team needs to ensure that they perform well for a period of 2 years. So, this is the right time for India to start winning, and maintain a good position in the table.

Current position of India in the table

India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are the only teams that have not lost even a single Test match till now in the points table. However, there is one more fact that not enough matches have been played by the participants of the WTC. Some have played 4 matches ( England and Australia) and some have played only 1 match.

With 66.67 points India is at no.2 position, and Pakistan is on the top position with 100 points. However, it is too early to judge the future positions of the team. 

Effect of Ashes on the WTC points table 

After the Ashes series England is going through a tough time on the WTC points table. They have just won 1 out of 4 matches. Their points are 29.17 currently. This shows that they are under pressure in the current situation. 

Position of Australia in the WTC points table

The 4 matches of Australia mentioned in the points are all from the Ashes. They have won 2 out of 4 and that puts them in the 3 position of the table. 

It is too early to judge the teams on the basis of the current table because not many matches have been played. However, Sri Lanka and West Indies would need to ensure that they catch up to the other teams.
