Born on 19th March in the year 1952, Warren Kenneth Lees is not only a renowned international player of the New Zealand cricket team but also a famous coach. He played in the position of wicketkeeper for the team and was also one of the finest batsmen. His coaching career existed between the years 1990 and 1993 for the black caps team. He made his international test debut in the year 1976 against Pakistan and his first ODI was against Sri Lanka in the year 1979. Talking about his career in the domestic cricketing environment, he played for Otago from the year 1970 till 1988.

Warren Lees was one of the finest wicketkeeper and batsman of his time. He has proven his worth in the international cricket in many of the matches where he made significant contributions which lead the team to win. His 152 runs against Pakistan is one such example where Warren helped his team to come out of the trouble. He was also one of the finest wicket-keepers of the team at that time and when he was replaced for the England tour with Jock Edwards in the year 1978, the decision was criticized by all the supporter of team and Jock was said to be one of the worst wicket keeper that New Zealand team ever had!
He started his coaching career with the domestic team of Otago which was followed by the international men’s New Zealand team. As a coach, he was the member of the 1992 World Cup team which is a very significant achievement of his coaching career. He was also an interim coach of the women’s national cricket team of New Zealand in the year 2014. He took his retirement from the coaching career in the year 2017.
