A five-wicket haul is an incredible accomplishment in T20 cricket. It displays a bowler’s mastery, composure, and capacity to perform well under pressure. 

It is even more remarkable that this accomplishment was made during a T20 World Cup, the highest level of T20 cricket. In World Cup history, only a select few players have claimed several five-wicket hauls, establishing them as some of the best bowlers in the competition. Ajantha Mendis

The Sri Lanka off-spinner bowled a spell for the ages as he took six wickets in an innings and rattled the whole Zimbabwe batting lineup in the 2012 T20 World Cup. Mendis has recorded one five-wicket haul in his T20 World Cup career.

Rangana Herath

In the 2014 T20 World Cup, Rangana Herath bowled a mysterious spell that made the whole world fall in love with his bowling. He took five wickets for only three runs against New Zealand.

Umar Gul

The left-arm English pacer also has a fifer to his name, which he took against Afghanistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup and won the Player of the Match award.

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa’s fifer (5/19) against Bangladesh in the 2021 T20 World Cup helped his team bundle out Bangladesh for a mere score of 73 runs. It was a career-best spell for Adam Zampa that day.
