SHR VS LIV Dream11 Prediction, Live Score & Shrewsbury Town FC vs Liverpool FC Football Match Dream Team: FA Cup

shrewsbury-liverpool

Shrewsbury faces Liverpool in the FA Cup encounter at New Meadow. League One mid table side, Shrewsbury host Premier League champions-elect Liverpool this weekend.

Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town have largely had a season to forget so far, scoring just 24 goals and sitting just above the relegation zone for most of the season. The team haven’t won in the league since Boxing Day but in the last round of the FA Cup they picked up a good win over Championship side Bristol City.

The team have averaged less than a goal a game in the league this season but they haven’t conceded too many either with 28 goals conceded which equates to just 1.12 goals per game. Their highest scorer this season is Jason Cummings who has scored just four goals, highlighting the teams issues in front of goal.

Liverpool FC

Liverpool have had an astonishing season so far, winning 21 of their 22 games and losing just two points all season. Their incredible form actually stretches back much further with the team taking 91 points from a possible 93 and they look like it’s only a matter of time before they are crowned Premier League champions.

Their goalscoring form has been impressive, scoring an average of 2.36 goals per game in the league whilst they’ve been just as impressive in the cups, beating Everton in the last round whilst also making the Champions League knockout stages where they will face Atletico.

There isn’t much to suggest that this one will end in anything other than a Liverpool win with the home side failing to impress and Liverpool looking so dominant. We’re certainly in agreement with that line of thinking and we’re backing Liverpool to win with over 3.5 goals in the game.

Liverpool should be comfortable winners even if Jurgen Klopp puts out a weakened team with one eye on a string of important Premier League fixtures coming up and we’re predicting that they dispatch with Shrewsbury without much of an issue in a 4-0 win.

SHR VS LIV: Head-to-head

These two teams have locked horns just once so far, and the sole game had come in the FA Cup of 1996 season. Then, Liverpool recorded a dominating 0-4 win on the road.

SHR VS LIV: Predicted starting lineup

Shrewsbury Town: O’Leary; Williams, Ebanks-Landell, Pierre; Love, Norburn, Goss, Hart; Whalley, Udoh, Laurent

Liverpool: Adrian; Williams, Lovren, Matip, Larouci; Chirivella, Lallana, Jones; Elliott, Minamino, Origi

SHR VS LIV: Best players

Shrewsbury Town:

Aaron Pierre

As defenders go, there are none more imposing than Shrewsbury’s Aaron Pierre. The former Northampton man has been excellent in the heart of the back three this season for Sam Ricketts’ side and has been attracting interest during this transfer window due to his performances.

With Liverpool likely to dominate possession, the Shrewsbury backline can expect a busy afternoon so Pierre and co will need to be at their best if there is to be an upset in this one.

Key stat: Aaron Pierre has completed more clearances (129) in League One this season than any other Shrewsbury Town player.

Liverpool:

Harvey Elliott

Liverpool’s rising star has been excellent in domestic cup competitions this season for the Reds. He will likely be given the chance to shine again when Klopp’s side travel south to Shropshire.

His ability on the ball and vision are superb for a player still only 16-years of age and if he continues to develop as expected, Elliott will soon be a player known worldwide. He should play a big role on Sunday as he has done throughout both Liverpool’s League Cup and FA Cup campaigns so far this season.

Key stat: Havey Elliott is the youngest player to ever play in both the League Cup (15 years 174 days) and the Premier League (16 years and 30 days).
