The journey leading up to the World Cup Trophy is set to kick off on 5 October. The tournament will take place across ten cities in India, with warm-up matches scheduled for Cuttack and Thiruvananthapuram. The highly anticipated final game of the World Cup will predominantly take place at the esteemed Ahmedabad Stadium.

The ICC made a significant announcement on Tuesday, 27 June, unveiling the tournament schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup set to commence on 5 October. 

The world’s largest stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium, will host the opening match and the tournament’s final, and the clash between India and Pakistan will also occur in Ahmedabad.

A total of 10 venues have been selected to host the main matches, with Cuttack and Thiruvananthapuram chosen to host the warm-up games from 29 September to 3 October. 

 

The World Cup will feature ten participating teams. The top four teams from the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals on November 15 and 16 in Mumbai and Kolkata. Both cities will host five matches each. After hosting the warm-up matches, Hyderabad will host only three matches, while the remaining seven cities will organize five games each.

Four Predicted semi-finalist

The ICC World Cup 2023 is expected to witness fierce competition, and the four teams predicted to reach the tournament’s semi-finals are India, Pakistan, England, and Australia. These teams have a strong track record in international cricket and boast players in form. 

ODI Cricket World Cup Winners

Australia is the first team to win three consecutive World Cup tournaments, achieving this feat in 2007. Throughout the 12 World Cup tournaments held, Australia has emerged as the most successful country with five titles.

India and West Indies are the only two nations to have secured multiple World Cup victories, with India emerging as champions in 1983 and 2011, while West Indies claimed victory in 1975 and 1979. 

Pakistan claimed its first title in 1992, and Sri Lanka in 1996. England emerged as the champions in the most recent World Cup held in 2019, while New Zealand has yet to secure a title despite being two-time runners-up in 2015 and 2019.
