Brian McKechnie is one of the more famous players of the 1970-1990 time period, as this awesome player earned his intense fame in more than just a single sport: this player became famous through the mastery he had over both the sports of cricket and rugby. A player who was said to be rightly famous, he played in both professional cricket along with professional rugby for New Zealand National Teams along with other domestic teams in earlier years. Early Life

Brian John McKechnie was born in Gore, New Zealand, on 6th November, 153, and was one of the most famous sportsmen to have come out f the town of Gore. He received his education at the Southland Boys’ High School, which was one of the schools of choice for the town of Gore, and reportedly got into rugby while at school, becoming known enough for his playing prowess to have been selected for the Southland rugby team.

A prolific right-handed batsman, along with being a pretty good right arm fast medium bowler, he started playing cricket from the International level for the New Zealand National Team, which was often called the ‘Black Caps’.

International Career

He was one of the most famous rugby players of his time, as he played about 26 total matches for the New Zealand National Team, and became known for being one of the players to win the Grand Slam for New Zealand. Likewise in cricket, he became a pretty famous player who descended to bat onto the playing field quite often.
