Barcelona’s fifth match under Quique Setien sees them take on Levante this Sunday evening at Camp Nou. The Catalans should head into this match in a much more positive frame of mind, having seen off Leganes 5-0 in the Copa del Rey in midweek. There is little margin for error here though with ground to make up on Real Madrid in the title race.

A home game against a weakened Leganes XI proved to be the opportunity Barça needed to lay some foundations for what they hope is going to be an improvement under the guidance of Setien. It was certainly much better than the first three games, particularly a really poor showing at Valencia last weekend in La Liga when if anything Los Che could have won by more than two goals.

Levante in theory shouldn’t provide a particularly stern test either. They are in the wrong half of La Liga and have lost their last 3 league games. They are though a side that has proven they can pull a result out of the bag when it’s not expected, not least when they beat Barcelona 3-1 earlier in the season with three quick-fire goals stunning what was then Ernesto Valverde’s side.

Roger Marti and Jose Luis Morales look like they could be the starting duo here with the latter likely to be a threat on the break, despite a slightly below par season by his standards. Levante, like most teams you sense against Setien’s Barça, will sit very deep and deny Barcelona space in behind. However it’s still going to be a big ask for them to thwart what should be a full strength Barça side with the exception of the injured Luis Suarez.

Levante may be able to ask questions on the break at times in this game. However overall they lack the defensive discipline of Valencia or even Granada who frustrated Barcelona for so long in Setien’s first game. This should be a relatively routine victory for the hosts although Levante may get on the scoresheet.
