A total of 20 matches have been played in the first phase of the IPL 2021. Teams like RCB, CSK, and DC have been outstanding so far. While KKR, PBKS, SRH struggled to make a lasting impression yet, teams like MI and CSK preferred to be on a safer side.

The first leg did witness a huge contribution by the uncapped players as many of them outperformed compared to the regular players of the Indian Premier League. All the teams had a unique factor, some might have an excellent bowling department, some might have a strong batting line-up, while some have extra-ordinary fielders who try to save as many runs as possible. However, a team to reach the top needs to have a balance in all three categories. Here we list down teams who are the most balanced this season

Chennai Super Kings

One of the highly experienced teams in the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings comprises the right amount of balance required to keep the consistency going. MS Dhoni and the team have played 5 matches so far, and have managed to win 4 and they are the current table-toppers with a decent NRR of +1.61.

Their Batting line-up consists of players like Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni who have been quite consistent throughout the series. Speaking of the bowling unit, Deepak Chahar, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran have been quite fruitful with the ball in the season. Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali’s all-rounder performance gives the team an added advantage to give their 200% on the field.

 

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Bangalore roped Glenn Maxwell this IPL who is regarded as one of the best batsmen the Indian Premier League has ever witnessed. The team has done played extremely well in the first phase of the tournament so far. Currently, the team ranks second on the table with 4 wins from 5 games so far, and their only disappointing defeat came against CSK.

RCB has witnessed the best batting performance compared to other teams with all their top 4 batsmen doing exceptionally well. With Maxwell, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, Ab De Villiers the team has the best of the best.

Their Bowling department comprises Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel, Washington Sundar, Kyle Jamieson, and Mohammad Siraj and all the four have been quite decent with the ball too.

Harshal Patel has been the best bowler of the tournament so far having got 15 wickets from 5 games. However, barring Harshal, there has been decent contributions from Kyle Jamieson and Mohammed Siraj. The spin duo of Yuzi Chahal and Washi Sundar hasn’t done any good as yet.

Overall, Royal Challengers Bangalore get a rating of 8.5 in the batting department, 7.6 in the bowling department, 9 for Team performance, and a weighted average overall rating of 8.36.

All the conversations about having one of the most balanced squads and strong middle-order in the tournament, KKR have names that make the team a balanced one. Star batsman Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Rahul Tripathi, All-rounder Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell have all been quite decent with the bat. Their bowling unit consists of Pat Cummins, Kamlesh Nagarkotti, Sunil Narine, and all of them have clicked whenever the situation is needed.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians is regarded as one of the strongest teams on paper to date and in every season of the Indian Premier League, despite only 2 wins from 5 games, Mumbai Indians have still managed to be at the number 4 position in the points table.

Rohit Sharma has been good overall, followed by some decent performances by Kieron Pollard, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Quinton De Cock.

The bowling unit to have names that can’t be ignored with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar, and Trent Boult.
