Jayant Yadav gave credit to his father for taking him to cricket academy in Delhi where he started to learn the basics of the game. He started as a leg spinner but due to first two cousins were leg spinners, he decided to become an off-spinner.

Jayant is the nephew of Yogendra Yadav a famous politician and psephologist. He was born on 22^nd January 1990 and has done schooling from Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. He did his college from Hindu College from Sports quota. He has done Bachelor of Arts.

His father works as a flight manager with Air India. Yadav biological mother was Lakshmi Yadav who died 17 years in a plane crash. His stepmother Jyoti Yadav nurtured him to help him become a top cricketer.

Professional life

Jayant Yadav played 4 Test matches and 1 One day international match for Team. He made his Test debut against England at Vizag in 2016. In the next Test match at Mumbai, he scored his career-best score of 104 and created a major impact with a sensational partnership with Virat Kohli that helped India to post a massive total. He has scored 1 century and 1 half-century in his four Test matches with an average over 73. He became the first batsman to score a century for India coming at number 9.

In the 4 Test matches he played; Yadav took 11 wickets. He has featured in 1 ODI match and figures of 1 for 8.

He made his first-class debut for Haryana against Gujarat in 2011. Yadav has the experience of playing 61 first-class matches, 56 List A and 55 T20s for Haryana. In 2019/20 Ranji Trophy season, Jayant took 9 wickets from 2 matches but could not help them to qualify for the knockout stage.

Jayant Yadav displayed his all-round skills with a massive 211 runs against Karnataka in the 2012/2013 Ranji Season. He shared a record-breaking 392 runs stand with Amit Mishra for the eighth wicket.

He topped Haryana’s bowler’s table in the 2014/2015 Ranji Trophy season with 33 wickets. He became the first Indian batsman to score a century at number 9 in Test cricket.
