70th All India Inter Railway Kabaddi Championship teams, schedule and much more

The 70th edition of the All India Railway Kabaddi Championship is back after a gap of 2 years. Due to COVID-19’s threat, this event could not take place in 2020 as well as 2021 but with the danger of COVID-19 relatively lower, the Men’s AIR Kabaddi championship gets underway from 26th of December to 29th December.

The Central Railway Sports Association Ground at Palvel, Mumbai will host the annual Kabaddi championship with the matches scheduled to take place from 4PM to 7PM. Total of 16 teams from the country are going to be participating in this event and some of the biggest names of Indian Kabaddi will take the mat.

The AIR kabaddi championship last took place in 2019 at Gorakhpur which was the 69th edition. NER became the Gold medalists, ECR won the Silver medal while CR ended up with the Bronze Medal. This year, 225 players (including players and Coach) and 32 Match officials are going to take part in this event.

All the above mentioned 15 teams have certain Kabaddi stars (Raiders as well as Defenders) who featured in the recently concluded Pro Kabaddi League 9. PKL’s most expensive player Pawan Kumar Sehrawat will be playing for NR while Vikas Kandola will be representing ECR in this annual tournament.

The inclusion of these players are a big achievement for this tournament organized by the Indian railways. Other than Sehrawat and Kandola, Coaches like Sadanand Shetty will be with CR, Sanjiv Kumar will be managing NR, Vishwajit Palit will look after ER, Manjeet Chillar and Rakesh Kumar will also make their presence felt.
