In a recent development, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is all set to hand promotion to three Indian cricketers – Surya Kumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Shubhman Gill. The Apex body of Indian Cricket is reportedly set to announce their decision on 21 December, two days before the IPL auctions.

Reports are also suggesting that Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha will be axed from being contract holders of BCCI. Saha reportedly was told by the BCCI in January 2022 that he will not be considered for playing for India again.

Meanwhile, Surya Kumar Yadav, Shubhman Gill and Hardik Pandya are likely to be promoted from Grade C list – thanks to their string of consistent performances with the Bat. Pandya last month was announced as the new Captain for India in T20Is will receive another good news later this month.

If we talk about the specialty of each grades in the BCCI then an A+ contract offers 7 Crore INR, Grade A offers 5 crore INR, Grade B offers 3 crore INR and Grade C offers 1 Crore INR. There are several parameters upon which BCCI decides that gradation system.

A+ and A+ players are either all-format regulars or have a high level of assurance in Tests and one of the two white-ball formats. A cricketer must play at least two formats to be eligible for Group B, whereas Group C is mostly for single-format players.

“Surya was in Group C but his performance in the last one year warrants a promotion to Group B at least, if not A. He is currently world No. 1 in T20I ICC rankings and is a serious contender in ODI team also. ” – said BCCI
