David Silva is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for the English club Manchester City. He is considered as one of the best midfielders in the world as well as in the history of the Premier League.

Silva announced his retirement from International football in august 2018, however, he has continued to play club football.

Silva has a rich experience as a professional footballer and have played over 120 games for the National side, while playing over 600 games at the club level.

David Silva was a part of the Spanish outfit Valencia CF for six years during which he appeared in 150 matches and won one Copa del Rey. For the English Champions Manchester City, he has appeared in over 400 matches and has gone on to win two FA Cups, four League Cups, and four Premier League titles. He is counted as one of the best and greatest ever Citizen (a Manchester city player) alongside Billy Meredith, Bert Trautmann, Colin Bell, and Sergio Aguero.

Silva was born on 8 January, 1996 in Arguineguin, Gran Canaria, the Canary Islands, to Fernando Jimenez (father) and Eva Silva (mother). His father was a former municipal police officer at the Valencia CF Stadium while, his mother was a housewife. Silva’s passion for football started emerging at the age of 3 when he used to kick around vegetables and fruits thinking of them as football. Seeing his deep interest and passion for the game, his parents bought him a pair of jersey, shorts and a real football.

David Silva started his career when he was eight years old, and he joined a team called San Fernando in Maspalomas, where he spent most of his time. The place was quite far away from his home so he had to travel there regularly as there was no Under-10s team around his hometown. Silva initially started playing football as a goalkeeper before converting into a winger. Silva played for the team until he became 14, following which he signed for Valencia. Not a star, Silva signed for Valencia as he was rejected by Real Madrid for being too small. David Silva was signed by Manchester City on 30th June 2010 in a four-year deal starting from 14th July 2010, and was offered jersey number 21, which he wore for Valencia. Before the move happened, Manchester City tried to sign him and his teammate David Villa in 2008 but their combined price tag of 135 million held them back. Playing for City, Silva made his debut on 14th August 2010 in a draw against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. His performances impressed the City supporters, and through their love and support, he earned the Manchester City Player of the Month awards from October until December, winning it three times in a row.

The 2011-12 season for Silva had a good start which saw him earn the Man of the Match award in the first few matches of the season. In 2017-18 season, Silva signed a one-year extension contract with Manchester City, keeping him in the club till 2020. In that season, his team won the 2018 EFL Cup, defeating Arsenal F.C by 3-0 in the final, including one goal from Silva. He was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year as City went on to win the Premier League as well.
On 26 June 2019, Silva announced that he would leave Manchester City at the end of the 2019-20 season.

For his national team, he was the part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup team which was won by Spain. After being part of Spain’s consecutive unsuccessful campaigns at 2014 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2016, David Silva wished to make amends at the 2018 FIFA world Cup, in what was supposed to be his final World Cup.
