Varun Kumar Early Life:
Varun Kumar is born in Punjab and started playing Hockey when he was in school.
He represented his home state of Punjab in the Junior National Championships in 2012 and did pretty well there but due to injury his progress was hindered for 2 years but he made comeback in 2014 was subsequently signed by Punjab Warriors in the Hockey India League.
Post first edition he was retained for next two seasons for the year 2015 & 2016 respectively. He emerged as the top-scorer for India during the four-nations Invitational tournament in Spain and eventually he was selected for the Junior World Cup side.
Varun Kumar Professional Life:
Varun Kumar made his debut for India senior team in 2017 and since then he has played 109 matches and scored 28 goals and his other professional achievements include winning gold medal in 2017 Asia Cup held in Dhaka Bangladesh.
He was also member of Indian team who clinched gold and bronze medal in Muscat Champions trophy &, Tokyo Olympics held in 2018 and 2020 respectively.
Varun also plays for BPCL at senior level.
