Lalit Kumar Upadhyay Early Life:.

Lalit Upadhyay comes from Varanasi school of Hockey which has already produced stalwarts like Mohammad Shahid in the past who played an important role in India’s gold medal event in 1980 at Olympics. 

Lalit Kumar made his debut for India in 2014 and since then he has been involved in multiple International competitions for India.  He was also member of bronze medal winning Indian team at recently concluded Tokyo Olympics 2020 which India won after the period of 41 years.

“I was in Year 6 and used to watch my elder brother because he is also a hockey player. Due to injuries he quit playing, but got a job through playing hockey. Since I was not inclined much towards studies, I too decided to take hockey as a career.” said Upadhyay while taking to one of the media outlets.

Lalit Kumar Upadhyay Professional Life

Lalit Kumar Upadhyay participated in Hong Kong invitational tournament in 2010.  He subsequently participated in Muscat(Oman League) held in 2013 followed by Europe International Tour held in Holland. 

His Professional Journey embarked on next level when he scored multiple goals for India in 2017 Hockey Men’s Asia Cup held in Dhaka, Bangladesh and his brilliant goal in 22nd minute against Malaysia in the finals sealed Gold medal for India. 

He was also adjudged as the best player of the tournament in beighton cup, Kolkata in 2010. apart from his laurels in International events, Lalit has an astounding record in domestic circuit too in Domestic Hockey Tournaments like Obaidullah gold cup and Surjit Singh Hockey tournament held in 2012.
