The grass is greener on Federer’s side: Swiss downs Nadal

Roger Federer beat Spanish giant Rafael Nadal to set up a Wimbledon final clash with Serb Novak Djokovic. Federer got the better of Nadal and outplayed the Spaniard, defeating him 7-6 (7/3), 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The 37-year-old has won eight Wimbledon title and will be gearing to win his 31st Grand Slam title when he takes on Novak Djokovic in the final on Sunday. Standing at 37, Federer became the third oldest Grand Slam, finalist. Also, in the process, Federer broke Goran Ivanisevic’s record of 1397 Wimbledon aces and now with 1398, had most Wimbledon aces to his name.

Federer beat Nadal for the first time in a Grand Slam semi-final after being down 4-0, losing all the previous semi-final against the Spaniard, the latest of which came recently at the French Open.

Though Federer was the dominant force today, the Federal rivalry put up a great show which all the tennis lovers enjoyed and relished.

The number of stars and celebrities were stay tuned for the game and enjoyed what the rivalry had to offer. They took to Twitter as well to express joy and congratulate the two, more so Federer for making it to yet another final.
