Team Owners & Sponsors: Pro Kabaddi League Season 7

This season of Pro Kabaddi League will feature 12 teams. PKL is one of the fastest-growing sporting events in the country, only second to Indian Premier League. The team owners of Pro Kabaddi have shown great belief in the sport and have hence, tasted success. The sponsors of Pro Kabaddi have started to grow with teams doing really well on that front. The sponsors of Pro Kabaddi 2019 have only grown since the last year and has been increasing year-on-year.

The viewership of the sport is climbing up as the years are passing by. This year’s auction saw the team owners spending a total of Rs. 50 crores from their pockets to buy some good bunch of players for their respective teams.

As the 12 teams are ready to face each other in the upcoming tournament, let us take a look at the list of  team owners of Pro Kabaddi and also, a list of the sponsors of Pro Kabaddi 2019:

#1. BENGAL WARRIORS

OWNER- Future Group, Kishore Biyani.
SPONSORS- Spunk, Future pay.

The Kolkata based franchise is owned by the Future Group under the banner Birthright Games & Entertainment Private Limited. Bengal Warriors have featured in all six seasons of Pro Kabaddi without much success, which they would want to change this season.

Kishore Biyani has partnered with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and Government of West Bengal to start a grassroots level program for the development of Kabaddi in the region.

#2. BENGALURU BULLS

OWNER- WL League Pvt. Ltd. (subsidiary: Kosmik Global Media Private Limited
SPONSORS- Abhi Paisa, MI, Shiv Naresh, BKT Tyres, O & O Academy, the Oneness, Dynamic Techno Medicals Galaxy.

The Bangalore based franchise is owned by the Kosmik Global Media Pvt. Ltd., under WL LEAGUE PVT. LTD. Uday Sinh Wala was the CEO of the company but has passed on the baton to another person. Last year, the Bengaluru Bulls won the finals so the owners would be hoping for the same performance this year.

#3. DABANGG DELHI K.C

OWNER- Radha Kapoor, DO IT Sports Management India Pvt. Ltd.
SPONSORS- BKT Tyres, Reforce, JK Cements, Radio City, Boat, Grab on

Dabang Delhi K.C is owned by Radha Kapoor who owns DO IT Sports Management India Pvt. Ltd. She is the only female owner of the Kabaddi team in PKL. The company has a vision of expansion in other sports across India. Radha Kapoor aims at promoting “Women Entrepreneurship”.  The team has never tasted success in any of the seasons till now so the owners would be positive towards their team’s performance in this season.

#5. GUJARAT FORTUNE GIANTS

OWNER- Mr. Gautam Adani, Adani Wilmar Ltd.
SPONSORS- FRU2go, Shiv Naresh

 Gujarat Fortune Giants is owned Adani Group of Industries. The multinational company is known for real estate, FMCG, Financial services, defences, and aerospace. The company ventured into Pro Kabaddi League by buying a new team based in Ahmadabad in Pro Kabaddi Season 5 when four new teams were inducted. Till now, the Fortune Giants have performed well since their debut season. The side has gone onto reach two finals in as many seasons, but have ended up losing both. This year, they would be looking to make amends and hope it is “third time lucky” for them.

#5. HARYANA STEELERS

OWNER- Sajjan Jindal, JSW Sports
SPONSORS-
T10 Sports

The Haryana based Kabaddi team is owned by JSW Sports, which is part of the Jindal Steel Works (JSW) Group. JSW Sports also owns the football club Bengaluru FC in Indian Soccer League (ISL) and have 50% stakes in IPL team Delhi Capitals. Haryana Steelers haven’t had the best outings thus far, but hope they are able to change things around this time.

#6. JAIPUR PINK PANTHERS

OWNER- Abhishek Bachchan, Bunty Walia, Jaspreet Singh Walia
SPONSORS- Lux Cozi, Reliance Digital, Muthoot Group, Kalyan Jewellers, Paytm, Insider, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani

The Jaipur Pink Panthers based side is owned by the Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan, managed by GS Entertainment Worldwide which is headed by Mr Bunty Walia, one of the leading film producers & Sports Entrepreneur, and Mr Juspreet Singh Walia.

#7. PATNA PIRATES

OWNER- Rajesh V Shah, KVS Energy and Sports Limited
SPONSORS- Birla Gold Premium Cement, 4U Sports, Gold’s Gym, Pace International, BIG FM, GalaxT.com

Patna Pirates is owned by Rajesh V Shah, the co-chairman and managing director of ‘Mukund’, the company which specializes in Steel and machine building. The Patna Pirates side, one of the strongest side in the revered league. This year also the owners of pro kabaddi league team Patna pirates will be hoping their team to perform well.

#8. TAMIL THALAIVAS

OWNER- Nimmagadda Prasad, Sachin Tendulkar, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Allu Aravind, IQuest Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., Blasters Sports Ventures Pvt. Ltd.
SPONSORS- Valvoline

The Chennai based franchise is named as Tamil Thalaivas and is owned by some big names such as Legendary Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

Overall the owner of pro kabaddi league team Tamil Thalaivas is Sachin Tendulkar, Allu Arjun and Ram Charan. Tamil Thalaivas would be looking to excel in this year’s tournament.

#9. PUNERI PALTAN

OWNER- Kailash Kandpal, Insurekot Sports
SPONSORS-
Force Motors, Shiv Naresh, Red Bull.

The Maharashtra based franchise was one of the founding members of the Pro Kabaddi League. Puneri Paltan is owned by Insurekot Sports Ltd. that has contributed a lot in creating awareness about Kabaddi in India. The Talent Hunt and Little Puneri Champs are the initiatives taken by the Insurekot Sports in order to help the grass root players. Through this initiative, they scouted some young players for their squad.

#10. TELUGU TITANS

OWNER- Veera Sports
SPONSORS- Vaya & Greenko Group, Radio City 91.1 FM, Mera Hoardings, Events Now, VATS

The Telugu Titans are owned by the Veera Sports, a company co-owned by a number of industrialists Srinivas Sreeramaneni who also owns Vaya Group, Mr Mahesh Kolli of Greenko Group and Mr Goutham Reddy Nedurumalli of NED Group.

#11. U MUMBA

OWNER- Ronnie Screwvala, Unilazer Ventures
SPONSORS- Indigo Paints, Radio City, Gold’s Gym, Mitashi, Haldiram’s, Fravashi International Academy.

The franchise is owned by the Bollywood producer Ronnie Screwvala, who owns Unilazer Ventures Pvt. Ltd. The Businessman, also a philanthropist, saw the scope in the sport. Therefore, he also invested and become the owner of pro kabaddi league team U Mumba. Till now, U Mumba has performed well in almost all the seasons.

#12. UP YODDHA

OWNER- GMR Group
SPONSORS- Tata Motors, BKT Tyres, Captain Morgan, GMR, Fever 104 FM, Fortis and T10 Sports.

UP Yoddha is owned by Delhi based Infrastructure company. GMR League Games Pvt. Ltd. It is one of the biggest Indian infrastructure companies with revenue of $1.9b as of 2016. The company has previously invested in Sports, buying the Delhi franchise of the Indian Premier League.
